"[Lot of 3 - TWA Flight Route Maps] TWA Air Routes in the United States [and] TWA International Air Routes - U.S.A. - Europe - Africa - Asia [and] Air Routes - TWA Trans World Airline",

These charming vintage booklets were given as souvenirs to passengers flying Trans World Airlines (TWA). Founded as Transcontinental & Western Air in 1930, TWA was one of the four major airlines in the United States. After WWII and the introduction of the incomparable Lockheed Constellation airliner, TWA expanded into Europe, the Middle East, and Asia, thereby becoming the second international airline based in the United States (after Pan Am). The earliest booklet in this lot was published while the company was still called Transcontinental & Western Air. It includes a world map surrounded by illustrations of various locales and a map of the United States with a border consisting of black and white photographs. The second booklet in the lot was published after the airline transitioned to international flights and covers routes around the world. The third pamphlet covers U.S. routes in two maps, one covering the eastern half of the country and the other the western half. It also shows overseas routes in an inset. At the time of the brochure's publication, TWA served 70 U.S. cities and 23 world centers.

A. Air Routes - TWA Trans World Airline, by General Drafting Co., circa 1949 (31.9 x 24.0"). Condition: Issued folding with some tiny splits at fold intersections, some pencil manuscript notations, and some light scattered foxing on the world map. There is a small chip to the bottom corner.
B. TWA International Air Routes - U.S.A. - Europe - Africa - Asia, by Rand McNally & Co., dated 1963, (10.0 x 10.0"). Condition: There are a few 0.5" edge tears on the cover that extend to the first few maps.
C. TWA Air Routes in the United States, by Jeppesen & Co., dated 1965, (15.6 x 19.4"). Condition: Issued folding with a tiny split at one of the fold intersections, and minor toning and some small light spots on the covers.
