This finely engraved and informative map covers eastern Africa, the Red Sea, and part of Arabia. The map names many kingdoms in the region of present-day Egypt, Sudan, Somalia, Ethiopia, and Eritrea. It is filled with place names, trails, and extensive notations describing various tribes and traveling conditions (Desart of Berdoa - Excessive Droughty, and dangerous travelling because of thieves). A handsome map that includes a pictorial cartouche and a compass rose.

Condition: B+

A fine impression issued folding on a sheet with a fleur-de-lis watermark. There is light toning that is mostly concentrated in the margins, faint soiling, and a damp stain that is confined to the right blank margin.
