This 234-page volume serves as a record of Charles Clive Bigham's personal experiences while spending approximately 18 months traveling in both China and Korea. In 1899 Bigham was transferred to the Peking embassy and attached to the Russian Army in Manchuria during the Boxer Rebellion. In 1900, he served as the intelligence office under Sir Edward Seymour during the Seymour Expedition. The volume is richly illustrated and features 37 photographic plates and 3 folding maps at the rear of the volume including: Map of China Proper (9.2 x 9.7"), Sketch Map of the Trans Manchurian Railway (9.4 x 11"), and The Railways of Asia 1901 (12.5 x 9.9").
