This is a beautiful architectural-style title page with gilt highlights. Female representations of the four continents fill the alcoves flanking the title, with the huge coat of arms of King Phillip II of Spain appearing above the title. It was a common practice for publishers to print the titles on separate sheets that were pasted into the space left on the engraving, and that is the case with this sheet. From a French edition.
