This desirable 12" desk globe is constructed from 12 lithographic gores over a traditional plaster orb. It is supported with a full meridian ring on a bronzed Art Nouveau metal base with claw and ball feet. The globe is undated, but political geography dates it to circa 1915. In Africa, Cape Colony, Transvaal, Orange and Natal are consolidated into the Union of South Africa (formed in 1910), and the Austro-Hungarian Empire is still shown in Europe (dissolved in 1918). Isothermal lines are featured in blue and pink, and ocean currents are also shown in white. Complete with hour rings at the poles and an analemma in the Pacific Ocean. Manufactured by Weber Costello in Chicago and published by W & A.K. Johnston. Total height is approximately 22".

Globe gores are good with light soiling, staining, and minor surface abrasions. A 3 x 3" section in the North Atlantic has been skillfully reattached. Meridian and base are very good.
