An exact copy of Visscher's earlier work, this attractive map depicts the Holy Land in great detail. The track of Apostle Paul from Jerusalem to Rome is shown in the Mediterranean Sea. The map is embellished with three cartouches, two being held aloft by putti. A key in the cartouche at top left identifies cities of refuge, key sites in the Exodus, kingly cities, Levitical cities, common cities, castles, and villages. Engraved by Richard Palmer. The paper on this example has been double red-lined ruled just outside of the plate mark, which was a common embellishment for a royal presentation set.

References: Laor #112.

Condition: B+

On watermarked paper with faint offsetting and minor foxing mostly in the blank margins. A few tiny holes adjacent to the centerfold are only visible when held to light.

Estimate: $250 - $325
