This early automobile brochure, issued by the Gulf Refining Company, depicts the Lincoln Highway from Philadelphia to Pittsburgh in red/blue overprinting along with the proposed William Penn Highway in orange overprinting. The Lincoln Highway was one of the earliest transcontinental highways in the United States, reaching from Times Square in New York to Lincoln Park in San Francisco. With the establishment of the U.S. Numbered Highway System in 1926, the Lincoln Highway became U.S. Route 30 (and eventually part of Interstate 80). Self-folding (3.5 x 6.2") in pictorial paper with an itinerary for each direction highlighting Gulf service stations.
