A. Johnson's Georgetown and the City of Washington - The Capital of the United States of America, by Johnson and Ward, circa 1865 (15.7 x 12.6"). This fine, nineteenth century plan of the city also portrays three large vignettes of The Capitol, Washington Monument, and the Smithsonian Institution. All major streets and buildings are named. The map is surrounded with a decorative, metalwork border typical of the earlier Johnson maps. Condition: Light toning and scattered foxing. A short edge tear at left enters the border (not the map image) and is closed on verso with archival tape. (B+)

B. Plan of the City of Washington. The Capitol of the United States of America, by Samuel Augustus Mitchell, dated 1867 (13.7 x 11.1"). Nice example of this map with major buildings and sites noted including the Presidents House, Washington Monument, National Observatory, and U.S. Navy Yard. Engraved by W.H. Gamble. Surrounded by a floral border. Condition: On a bright sheet with a few small spots. (A)
