A. Le Pays des Hottentots Aux Environs du Cap de Bonne Esperance, circa 1755 (13.7 x 9.6"). A beautifully engraved copper-plate map of the Cape of Good Hope from Saint Helena Bay to Mossel Bay. Dutch settlements are mostly confined along the coast and southern regions. The inland regions are depicted as deserts, savannas, forests and mountain ranges with tribal names indicated and a few Boer colonies.

B. Empire du Monomotapa et Etats Voisins Tire de M. Delisle et Autres Auteurs, circa 1757 (10.3 x 7.9"). This map features the Kingdom of Monomotapa roughly in today's Mozambique. Based on Delisle, it includes the Zambeze River and is bisected by the Tropic of Capricorn. It is filled with notations on gold mines and the supposed sources of rivers.
