This handsome map focuses on the Byzantine Empire as it was during the reign of Emperor Constantine VII Porphyrogennetos. It covers present-day Balkans and Turkey and extends to include portions of Italy, Ukraine, and Russia. Provinces, towns and cities, rivers, and some topographical detail are shown. The Black Sea prominently appears.

A nice impression on watermarked paper with original wash and outline color. There is a hint of toning along the centerfold, some color offsetting, and light toning along the edges of the sheet.
