This sheet presents four circular maps showing troop progress in both the European (3 maps) and Asian (1 map) theaters of war. Areas of Allied control are identified in green shading, and the accompanying text indicates a week of success in "forging the links in the victory chain." Additional photographic illustrations shed further light on the situation. The verso contains a full page illustration showing the various insignia of the United States, Britain, and China. This "Newsmap" was issued on Wednesday, December 13th, 1944, 9 months prior to the war's ending. Prepared by the Special Service Section and printed by The Indian Press Limited in Calcutta.

From 1942-46, the U.S. Army published "newsmaps" to keep American troops updated on the war. These weekly posters were distributed and posted in every American installation in the world and were intentionally more visual than descriptive to help engage and motivate personnel.
