A small map of central and western Mexico based on the cartography of Ortelius. Mexico City is located on the banks of a large, hourglass-shaped lake and numerous gold and silver mines are scattered across the map. Engraved by Petrus Kaerius. Lovely calligraphy, decorative title cartouche, and scale of miles embellish the page. Latin text on verso.

References: Van der Krogt (Vol. III) #9510:352.1.

Condition: A

A nice impression on paper with a fleur-de-lis watermark. There is a hint of show-through of text on verso and a very faint damp stain in the bottom right corner, well away from map image.
