This decorative map comes from "The London Series of Modern Maps." Rivers and notable towns are named on both continents, and there is nice topographical detail. The United States has the appearance of being confined to east of the Mississippi, and the southwest still belongs to Mexico. Alaska is Russian America. Captain Cook's routes are delineated, as is the route of his first lieutenant, Captain John Gore. The map extends to show New Zealand. Beneath the map is a pictorial scene showing natives hunting birds, stampeding buffalo, and a gorgeous waterfall. It is surrounded by an ornate border.
