Oriented with north to the bottom, this map shows parts of Novaya Zemlya and the northwestern coastline of mainland Russia, illustrating the Waeigatz Strait (Kara Strait). Several rivers and place names are noted along the coastline, although the only city noted is Pitsora (Pechora). The map is decorated with spouting whales, sailing ships, and two compass roses.
