An early map of the state by one of the foremost early American cartographers. While the map is copyright dated 1836, county configurations are current to 1841 with the addition of Harrison County in the southernmost portion of the state. The map shows roads, canals, and a single railroad from Brandon (east of Jackson) to Walnut Hills (along the Mississippi River). A table at left identifies steamboat routes from Natchez to New Orleans and Natchez to Pittsburgh.
