"Louisiana and South Mississippi - Fabulous Wonderland of America",

This "fabulous" pictorial map brings the history and culture of Louisiana and southern Mississippi to life. The geography of the map is sparse, with only major rivers and cities noted, as the focus is on local landmarks, wildlife and activities. The city of New Orleans is illustrated with an image of the French Quarter, the Mardi Gras king, a jazz musician, and the Sugar Bowl. Several key industries are shown, including oil, gas, strawberries, and cattle in Louisiana and cotton, paper and corn in Mississippi. The locations of military camps are identified with army tents and American flags. A whimsical sign along the western border of Louisiana points east to the U.S.A. and west to Texas. The map is surrounded by a border with additional historical illustrations, including a Confederate flag, a riverboat, Native Americans, Spanish explorers, a fur trader, and a pirate. This map was created by Gus Levy, a cartoonist, illustrator, and advertising executive from Louisiana. Gus Levy's ink stamp is on verso.

Bright color with minor toning and light scattered foxing primarily along the edges of the sheet and within the map at left. There are minute pinholes in the image only visible when held to light, and small pinholes in the four corners within the blank margins. A tear that enters the image less than 1" at left has been closed on verso with old tape.
