"Kaart van de Onderkoningschappen van Mexico en Nieuw Granada in de Spaansche West-Indien", Tirion, Isaac

A fine map covering the southern United States, Mexico, Central America, northern South America and the Caribbean. The peninsula of Florida is shown as an archipelago of small islands, and the mythical Lake Parime is depicted in the interior of South America. There is considerable detail throughout including numerous place names along the coastlines and navigational hazards in the waters. Decorated by a simple block-style title cartouche and two distance scales. Tirion's Hedendaagsche Historie was initially conceived as the Dutch edition of Thomas Salmon's Modern History. The work began in 1729, but the text was later expanded and the Hedendaagsche Historie was therefore not completed until 1803.
