This attractive pocket map of the state where Mitchell was born depicts counties, towns, cities, roads, canals, railroads, courthouses, churches, and taverns. Tables at top left provide population figures from the 1840 census for each county and track the population growth since 1701. The state's total population is shown as 309,978. Insets at bottom right zoom in on Hartford and New Haven. The map folds into stiff boards (3.2 x 4.8") with a gilt title on the front cover.
