"Florida", Morse & Breese

This map was printed using the revolutionary cerographic process, a milestone in cartographic printing techniques. This early printed color technique was an important change in the way maps were produced and the only truly American cartographic publishing innovation.

A great map of Florida issued just three years before the territory gained statehood. The map gives good detail of the numerous roads and settlements shown mainly in the northern and central portion of the state. The southern tip is covered primarily by the Everglades. Includes an inset map of the "West Part of Florida" that is drawn on the same scale as the main map.
