A. The Discoverers, by Daniel J. Boorstin, published 1983 (6.4 x 9.6"). Instead of focusing on empire, politics, and warfare, this involved history tells the story of the world through the filter of the ideas and discoveries of figures like Herodotus, Ptolemy, Marco Polo, Copernicus, Newton, Darwin, Marx, and Freud. Dr. Boorstin was a Pulitzer Prize winner and the 12th Librarian of Congress. 745 pp. Hardbound in black cloth with gilt titles on the spine and an illustrated dust jacket. Condition: Contents near fine but for some minor soiling along the edges. Covers have very minor shelf wear. Dust jacket has slight shelf wear and the publisher's price has been clipped. (A)

B. Richard Hakluyt and the English Voyages, by George Bruner Parks, Ph.D., published 1928 (7.0 x 10.2"). Dr. Parks examines the exploration and expansion of the Elizabethan era through the lens of the work of the Hakluyts. The book includes 32 black & white illustrations. Published by the American Geographical Society. 289 pp. Hardbound in gray cloth with gilt titles on front cover and spine. Condition: Contents good with light toning and some scattered foxing. Covers have light shelf wear and minor soiling. (B+)

C. Raleigh and Quinn - The Explorer and His Boswell, by H.G. Jones, published 1987 (6.0 x 9.0"). This book contains papers presented at the International Sir Walter Raleigh Conference, Chapel Hill, NC, March 27-28, 1987, and papers read at a session titled "The Life and Work of David Beers Quinn" at a meeting of the American Historical Association, Chicago, December 29, 1986. 270 pp. with black & white illustrations. Softbound. Condition: Contents are clean with minor wear on the covers. (A)
