This exquisitely engraved plan of Rome was edited by Luigi Nicoletti. In addition to showing the layout of the streets, sites of interest such as the Colosseum, Pantheon, Vatican City, and Castel Sant'Angelo (or the Mausoleum of Hadrian) are located. An inset at lower right details the the area surrounding Rome. There are tables surrounding the plan including lists of key information such as the population and number of palaces, villas, gardens, and aqueducts (top left), important monuments and locations (left), the 14 rioni of Rome (center left), and the most interesting monuments in the suburbs of Rome (right). Dedicated to Giovanni Freeborn. The map is dissected into 28 segments and laid on linen and housed in a marbled cardboard slipcase.
