This facsimile of The First Part of the Burning Fen by Arent Roggeveen (originally published in Amsterdam in 1675) is part of the Theatrum Orbis Terrarum Series of Atlases in Facsimile Fifth Series - Volume V. Published by Pieter Goos, The Burning Fen is described in Professor Ir C. Koeman's introduction as "one of the most important printed pilot books." With its charts of Central American coastlines and islands, it was the first pilot book to include non-European coasts. This book features 70 pages of text and 34 black and white double-page charts (and many more textual illustrations). Elephant folio, blue cloth covered boards with gilt insignia on the cover and title on spine, and an illustrated dust jacket.

Contents fine. Covers have minor shelf wear and are slightly bowed. There is minor shelf wear to the dust jacket as well, along with spots of faint soiling.
