"[On 2 Sheets] Theatrum Historicum ad Annum Christi Quadringentesimu in quo tu Imperii Romani tu Barbarorum ... Pars Occidentalis [and] ... Pars Orientalis", Delisle/Dezauche

This two sheet map illustrates the Roman Empire in the year 400 AD, and includes all of western Europe and northern Africa and extends into south-central Asia. The map is derived from Delisle's map of 1705, and is flanked by insets showing the Western and Eastern hemispheres. It is filled with extensive notations, including one indicates that a gold coin stamped with the effigy of Augustus Caesar was found in an American gold mine, confirming the probability that the Roman penetrated as far as the New World.

On sheets of watermarked paper with wide margins. The western sheet has one extraneous crease adjacent to the centerfold, otherwise fine (A). The eastern sheet has light toning (B+).
