This striking and uncommon Spanish map shows the island of Martinique. There is nice topographical details and roads, parishes and towns, sugar refineries, and various mills are depicted. Plenty of place names appear around the coast, and there is navigational information in the water such as soundings, hazards, and anchorages for ships both small and large. At top right, there are extensive Spanish-language notes about the island and its mapping, naming mapmakers like Cassini, Bellin, and Delisle. The title is enclosed in an ornate decorative cartouche at bottom left.
