"St. Augustine", Luffman, John

This small chart depicts the St. Augustine Inlet of the Matanzas River, with a bird's-eye plan of the city of St. Augustine. The city plan shows the fortified city and San Marcos fort flanked by Indian towns to the north and south. A fleur-de-lis orients north to the right, and below the map is a short notation: "St. Augustine, the Capital of East Florida, N. America, the Harbour is shallow but secure. It was ceded during Mr. Pitt's administration by the English to the Spaniards." This map was published in Luffman's Select Plans of the Principal Cities, Harbours, Forts &c. in the World.
