This map of Japan is based on the Blancus/Moreira type, which Sanson included in his small atlas of Asia until 1662, when it was replaced with a newly engraved map based on the Dudley/Jansson model. In its southwestern/northeastern orientation, Japan is fairly well represented. Published by Johann David Zunner. Decorated with strapwork title and distance scale cartouches.
