This fascinating piece of ephemera was issued as a supplement to La Journal newspaper, published out of Paris. The map depicts the Korean peninsula during the Russo-Japanese War with insets of the important ports of Vladivostok, Port Arthur, and the Bay of Liao-Toung. The war was essentially fought over Russia's encroachment on the warm water ports of the Pacific Ocean, as the port of Vladivostok was only accessible during the summer months. Surrounding the map are numerous advertisements, and the verso contains a road map of France entitled Tableau d'Assemblage de la Carte Routiere de France... (14.2 x 15.1").
