A. America - Early Maps of the New World, by Hans Wolff, published 1992, printed color (11.8 x 11.1"). This is a beautifully illustrated scholarly discussion of early maps that show the New World. Many aspects of geography and cartography and how they evolved are discussed. Edited by Hans Wolff, on behalf of the Bavarian State Library. 90 splendid illustrations in color and 92 in duotone. First English edition. 192 pp. Hardbound in blue cloth with dust jacket. Condition: Negligible wear to the dust jacket, else fine. (A)

B. The Exploration of North America 1630-1776, by W.P. Cumming, S.E. Hillier, D.B. Quinn, and G. Williams, published 1974, printed color (9.3 x 12.1"). This reference was written by four experts in American history and cartography. The book is a follow-up to The Discovery of North America, presenting a well documented and meticulous survey of European expansion in the New World, featuring eye-witness accounts and narratives of the explorers and settlers. Each chapter contains a historical survey of the opening up of new land and the main exploration routes. 272 pp, 400 illustrations, 47 in full color. Hardbound in original green cloth with gilt title on spine, and a pictorial dust jacket. Condition: Contents very good with faint toning along the pages' edges and minor scattered foxing across the top edges of the pages that is not visible when reading the book. Covers fine. The dust jacket is lightly sunned across the top with some shelf wear around the edges. (B+)

C. Maps and Charts of North America and the West Indies 1750-1789 - A Guide to the Collections in the Library of Congress, by John R. Sellers and Patricia Molen Van Ee, published 1981, black & white (8.1 x 10.5"). This is an important carto-bibliography of more than 2000 maps, including almost 600 original manuscript drawings of North America from the years 1750-1789. It includes several black and white illustrations. 8vo, hardbound in gray cloth with titling in black on front and spine. Condition: Contents good with some light unobtrusive stains on some of the pages. Covers very good with minor soiling. (B+)
