This stunning map of the Middle East depicts Patriarch Abraham's travels from Ur to Canaan. The map is surrounded by an elaborately engraved frame containing twenty-one scenes illustrating the life of Abraham, spanning his departure from Ur to his death. Each scene includes a citation from the corresponding chapter in the book of Genesis. The map is based on a similar one by Abraham Ortelius, published between 1590-1624.
