Rare Map of Russia from the Last Edition of Speed's <i>Prospect</i>

"A Map of Russia", Speed/Lamb

This map of the western portion of Russia is bounded by the North, White, Black and Caspian Seas. The map follows the work of Gerritsz and Blaeu, including the bird's-eye plan of Moscow in an inset at top left. At right are views of Narva, Archangel Sckagoroda, the Emperor's Court, a hot house, and a mill. The title cartouche features several Russian gentlemen, one of whom is holding the coat of arms of the Russian Empire. Engraved by Francis Lamb, whose imprint appears at bottom right, this map was not published until the 1676 of Speed's Prospect, and thus is fairly rare.

Nice impression and color with a few minor chips and tears confined to the blank margins that have all been professionally repaired.
