This densely engraved map of northern South America depicts Panama, Colombia, Ecuador, Venezuela, Guyana, and part of Brazil. It identifies key regions, towns, rivers and depicts mountains via hachure. The map is dedicated to "Colonel Belford Hinton Wilson, late Aid de Camp to the Liberator, Simon Bolivar." Bolivar was a Venezuelan political leader who helped Venezuela, Ecuador, Bolivia, Peru, and Colombia achieve freedom from Spanish rule.

Original outline color with minor offsetting and a few faint spots. A short centerfold separation in the bottom blank margin has been closed with archival materials.
