This lot includes two coastal charts and a map of the region from Beijing to the Bohai Sea.

A. The Canton River or Chu-kiang from Macao and Hong-kong to Pottinger Isld. [on sheet with] The Canton River or Chu-kiang from Pottinger Isld. to Canton, printed color. This chart depicts the Pearl River and the Humen Strait emptying into the South China Sea. Depth soundings and other navigational information is given. Hong Kong is shown at bottom right. An inset map extends the map farther north to Guangzhou (Canton), where several forts, an English factory, the city pagoda, and tea stores are identified.

B. Map of the Country Between Pe-king & the Gulf of Pe-chili Showing the Advance from the Taku Forts to Pe-king, hand color. This map includes a bird's-eye plan of Beijing, with several barracks, cemeteries and palaces located around the city. There is good detail of the rivers, roads and towns in the region.

C. Coast of China from Hainan Isld. to Hie-che-chin Bay [on sheet with] Coast of China from Hie-che-chin Bay to San Moon Bay, hand color. This chart details the southern and eastern coast of China from the Leizhou Peninsula to Taizhou, including portions of Hainan and Taiwan. The chart is filled with depth soundings and place names along the coast, with only a few rivers depicted inland.
