This uncommon and highly detailed map of the entire state shows towns, counties, township surveys, mining information, roads and railroads. Balancing this wealth of information is a series of vignettes occupying the top third of the sheet featuring orchards, vineyards, and a lovely waterfall - all meant to convey the vast natural resources and agricultural opportunities in California. The map, now laid loose, was included in "Resources of California" (5.8 x 9.0"), a publication issued by the state of California. The 119 pages of text includes a description of each of the counties, climate, agriculture, viniculture, and mining to name a few. Interspersed within the text are numerous full-page illustrations. Published by A.J. Johnston, Superintendent of State Printing in Sacramento.
