This is a very rare updated version of Sanson's map of northern Asia. The map is about 2 inches wider and 1 inch taller than its predecessor, and extends as far west as the Caspian Sea and south to include Japan, which had previously been omitted. Korea is now shown correctly as a peninsula, although Hokkaido appears to be fused with the Kamchatka Peninsula, which is named Yupi. Further to the east is the Destriot d'Vriez, separating Russia from Ieco. In the north, Nova Zemla is beginning to take shape, and the Island of Tazata has been eliminated. The strapwork cartouche has been replaced in favor of a garland and ribbon-draped cartouche held aloft by angels.
