Speed's elaborate map of Sussex features a small bird's-eye plan of Chichester and a vignette battle scene. The map is handsomely embellished with the Royal Coat of Arms, the title appearing on the pages of a book, and several strapwork cartouches at bottom encompassing the distance scale, a brief history of the county, and coats of arms of important families. The British Sea is filled with ships and sea monsters. English text on verso with a list of towns and additional information on the county. Engraved by Jodocus Hondius and published by John Sudbury and George Humble.
