This interesting post-World War II piece features five maps and an elaborate cover illustration featuring portraits of Roosevelt, Churchill, Stalin, and numerous important military leaders including Eisenhower, MacArthur, Patton, Leahy and Nimitz. The portraits surround a large image of the Liberty Bell. The maps, produced by Rand McNally, include:

A. Rand McNally Polar Map of the World. On a polar projection, this map displays the air distances between various locations in the northern hemisphere. A small inset of the southern hemisphere is depicted at bottom. Panels of text flank the map describing how airplanes are reducing travel time and providing a "new world perspective."

B. Rand McNally Map of the Western Pacific. This map of eastern Asia shows the boundaries of post-war Japan in bright red. The Pacific is filled with notations in red overprinting describing important dates and events during the war.

C. Rand McNally Map of Europe. A similar map as above but focused on post-war Germany. Shows the occupation zones in Germany held by Great Britain, France, the United States, and the Soviet Union in red overprinting.

D. Rand McNally Map of the World. Attractive political map on Mercator's Projection, showing the world at the conclusion of the war.

E. Rand McNally Map of United States. Map of the continental United States with individual states depicted in vivid colors. State capitals, cities, towns, roads and railroads are identified. The territories of Alaska and Hawaii are not shown on this map (they would both become states in 1959).

The 5 maps and cover (three total sheets) are held together by a thin metal clasp with rings at top for the purpose of hanging on a wall. Produced by Capper Publications in Topeka, Kansas.
