"Nuova Carta della Tartaria Secondo l'Ultime Oservationi...", Tirion, Isaac

This map depicts the region from the Caspian Sea to Japan, and north to include Novaya Zemlya. The map is fully engraved to show mountains, forests, deserts and swamps, as well as towns and cities. The mythical Terra della Compagnia appears to the east of the Kamchatka peninsula. The map is simply decorated with the title in a block-style cartouche and a small compass rose.

Condition: A

A clean, bright example with a crisp impression and some very minor creasing. There are two archivally repaired tears - one confined to the left blank margin and one entering 1/2" into map at right. The right margin has been extended to accommodate framing.
