This dramatic engraving depicts the breach of St. Anthony's dike near Amsterdam on March 5, 1651, which was the result of St. Peter's flood. Terrified spectators are shown on either side of the dike as water rages below. The village can be seen in the background. Created by Pieter Nolpe after a drawing by Willem Schellinks. This engraving appeared in Atlas Geographus or, A Compleat System of Geography, Ancient and Modern, published by John Nutt.
