This lot includes five maps of European countries from the late 18th and early 19th centuries.

A. Italie Ancienne, by Charles V. Monin, circa 1839 (11.1 x 15.3"). This striking map of Italy extends to include the Adriatic Sea, Corsica, Sardinia, and Sicily. Several mountains, rivers, lakes, and towns and cities are identified. Condition: There are a few small spots within the image and a faint damp stain that enters the neatline at bottom right. (B+)

B. France Divided into Departments, &c. Agreeable to the Decrees of the National Assembly, by Robert Wilkinson, from General Atlas of the World, Quarters, Empires, Kingdoms, States &c..., dated 1805 (11.5 x 9.1"). This handsome small map of France identifies all the departments. A key indicates the boundaries of metropolitan circles and departments, city seats, bishop's seats, the chief town in each department, and places with a tribunal of justice. Another key names the metropolitan circles. A small inset at bottom right shows Corsica. Condition: A nice impression in original color on a lightly toned sheet with a few unobtrusive spots. (B+)

C. Mappa Hispaniae Antiquae, by Rigobert Bonne, dated 1780 (12.7 x 8.5"). This elegantly engraved map of modern day Spain and Portugal shows the names of the provinces of Roman Hispania: Tarraconensis, Lusitania, Ulterior, Baetica, and Citerior. There is nice topographical detail in addition to the ancient place names. Drawn by Perrier and engraved by Andre. Condition: On a watermarked sheet with light toning along sheet edges and a light damp stain in the bottom blank margin. (A)

D. Mappa Greciae Antiquae et Vicinarum Regionum, by Rigobert Bonne, dated 1779 (12.7 x 8.6"). This interesting small map shows ancient Greece and its surroundings with ancient places names. The area is divided into the traditional regions: Macedonia, Thessalia, Epirus, Aetolia, etc. There is good topographic detail. Drawn by Perrier and engraved by Andre. Condition: On a watermarked sheet with light toning along sheet edges and a light damp stain in the bottom blank margin. (A)

E. Southern Germany, by John Dower, circa 1850 (10.0 x 8.3"). This dense small map of southern Germany features political divisions, place names, topographical information, and railroads. Towns and cities are marked according to population. A diagram along the bottom of the sheet compares the elevations of various sites across the region. Published by Orr and Company. Condition: A few minor spots. (A)
