This fine overview of antique maps features brief biographies of major cartographers. It covers a very wide selections of maps from the 15th to the 19th centuries. 128 pp., nearly 170 illustrations, 65 in full color. Hardbound in rust cloth with gold title and decoration on cover, with dust jacket. Condition: Contents very good with just a hint of toning along the sheets' edges and a handwritten dedication on the half title page. Covers fine. There is light toning and wear along the top of the dust jacket. (B+)

B. Country Life Book of Antique Maps, by Jonathan Potter, published 1988 (8.9 x 12.1"). This reference is a good introduction to collecting antique maps for the newer collector. It is beautifully illustrated, mostly in color. Covering all parts of the world from about 1500 to 1850. Hardbound in cloth with dust jacket. Gilt title on spine. 192pp, including index. Condition: There is minor toning along the sheets' edges. Covers fine. (A)

C. The British Library Companion to Maps and Mapmaking, by Rebecca Stefoff, published 1995 (8.9 x 11.3"). This interesting reference includes over 350 entries on various important maps, cartographers, cartographic jargon, mapmaking techniques, expeditions, and more. From Academie des Sciences to Alessandro Zorsi, this reference covers a wide range of cartographic topics. Heavily illustrated throughout with images in black & white and color. 304 pp. Hardbound in rust cloth with gold title and an illustrated dust jacket. Condition: Like new, with very minor wear to covers and dust jacket. (A)
