This finely engraved map centered on the Arabian Sea was original engraved for Coronelli's globe of 1688. In this edition it is printed on a full sheet (14 x 19.5") of Italian text. It covers from Oman to the western coast of Sri Lanka and includes great detail of the Maldives. The text cartouche provides sailing directions from Goa to Madagascar and the Cape of Good Hope. Coronelli was a Venetian monk well known for his beautifully engraved maps and atlases, but his globes are the most magnificent examples of his work.
