This small book features a frontispiece map of Northern India and the surrounding region from Eastern Persia through Bangladesh. It illustrates the travels by William Hawkins, the first British emissary to India. The title cartouche includes a vignette showing Hawkins at the court of Jahangir in 1609. In addition to the map, there are 8 very detailed plates showing scenes of elephants, lion attacks, and a man getting clubbed. Includes 124 pages of disbound text.

Condition: B

The map is a dark impression with a small stain along one fold, faint offsetting, and a small fold separation confined to the blank margin. Plates and text have light scattered foxing and toning.
