This sumptuous map of Switzerland extends to include a portion of northern Italy. It is intricately engraved with rich topographical detail, political divisions, and place names. Lake Constance and Lake Geneva are prominently shown, and Zurich, Geneva, Basel, Lausanne, Bern, and the remainder of Switzerland's major cities are identified. There is a small view of the Chamonix Mont-Blanc Valley at bottom. A table at bottom left lists the elevations of various glaciers and mountains, and a comparative chart of mountains around Geneva is situated in the bottom right corner. The striking title cartouche features a shepherd playing an alp-horn against a mountainous backdrop. An additional cartouche at right encases a series of observations.
