A. Colton's Ohio, by G.W. and C.B. Colton & Co., dated 1855 (15.8 x 13.2"). This handsome map of the state features an up-to-date county configuration, with the newest county of Noble (founded in 1851) present. Towns and cities, roads, railroads, canals, and the locations of railroad depots and post offices are identified. An inset at bottom right shows Cleveland and its surroundings. The map includes a strapwork border. Condition: There is light show-through of text on verso, a few small spots, a damp stain that enters the border at right, and toning along the sheet's edges. (B+)

B. Johnson's Ohio, by Johnson and Ward, from Johnson's New Illustrated (Steel Plate) Family Atlas, dated 1864 (22.8 x 17.0"). This striking map of Ohio is the version published in Johnson's atlases in the years 1864 and 1865. In between the years 1851 and 1874 there was no change in the state's county configuration, so the map is current. In addition to the towns, cities, railroads, and rivers located, portions of bordering states are shown, including the relatively new state of West Virginia. A vignette at bottom right depicts the capitol building in Columbus. Surrounded by a decorative border. Condition: There is faint scattered foxing and a few edge chips and tears, including centerfold separations that enter the image at top and bottom. The sheet's edges are lightly toned. (B+)

C. Plan of Cincinnati and Vicinity, by Samuel Augustus Mitchell, dated 1860 (11.1 x 10.7"). This plan of the city of Cincinnati depicts the individual wards, streets, railroads, and public buildings. The area shown is from the Corporation Line north of Central Avenue and south across the Ohio River to Covington and Newport. Interesting landmarks such as the Public Landing and the Apollo Building are presented. It includes lovely decorative floral borders. Condition: The map image is fine, with light toning and a few small spots in the blank margins. (A)
