A scarce pair of wall maps depicting Baltimore, Maryland including:

A. Map of the City and County of Baltimore, Maryland, from Original Surveys, by J.C. Sidney & P.J. Browne, dated 1851, hand color (32.9 x 44.2"). This rare, large-scale map of the city and county depicts individual districts in full hand-color. Private properties are shown by name. The map features a large inset of downtown along with several vignettes of important buildings along the borders. James Sidney began producing maps in 1847 with the popular ...Ten Miles around the City of Philadelphia.... This map was his only endeavor in Maryland County maps. OCLC lists only four copies. Printed on two sheets and backed with linen. Original rollers present. Condition: There are several cracks in the image due to the varnish, light toning, and a few small stains in the image. (B)

B. Plan of Baltimore & Vicinity Showing the Proposed Routes for Bringing Water from the Jone's and Gwynn's Falls & the Patapsco River..., by James Slade, dated 1853, black & white (27.4 x 42.9"). Detailed map of Baltimore and the northwest showing roads, railroads, and the proposed water lines into downtown. Original rollers present. Condition: Toned with several chips in the image and numerous surface abrasions. (C+)
