A. County Atlases of the British Isles 1579-1850, by R.A. Skelton, published 1970 (7.6 x 10.1"). This superb reference was designed as an aid to the study of the evolution of the English county atlas. It provides detailed collations and discussion of the history of 124 atlases as well as biographies of map makers and publishers. An invaluable aid in the identification of editions, impressions, re-issues, and variants. Well illustrated with 43 plates in b/w, 262 pp. Hardbound in green buckram with dust jacket. Condition: Contents fine. Covers have very minor wear, and the dust jacket has a small chip and edge tear.

B. The Compleat Plattmaker - Essays on Chart, Map, and Globe Making in England in the Seventeenth and Eighteenth Centuries, by Norman J.W. Thrower, published 1978 (6.4 x 9.5"). This reference is a compilation of essays on English map, chart, and globe-making in the 17th and 18th centuries, by notable authors including Wallis, Verner, Woodward, and Thrower. 241pp, with many b&w illustrations and an extensive index. Hardbound with embossed cloth covered boards. Condition: Near fine with negligible wear to the covers.
