A. Map of Missouri, by Samuel Augustus Mitchell, dated 1847 (13.7 x 15.9"). This decorative map of the state shows early settlement along the Missouri River with the counties in the north and south very sparsely settled. Roads are well detailed throughout the state. The county configuration is accurate up to 1845 as Putnam has not yet split into Dodge. Copyright entered by H. N. Burroughs in 1847. Condition: Original color with light soiling, toning along the edges of the sheet, and numerous short edge tears that have been archivally repaired, some of which enter into the border. (B+)

B. Missouri, by J.H. Colton & Co., dated 1855 (15.9 x 12.8"). This detailed map of Missouri features good detail of political and county lines, roads, canals, rivers, and railroads. It shows the Pacific Railroad on a stretch from Jefferson City to St. Louis along with numerous other railroads. An inset at top left centers on St. Louis. The boot is included on the map, rather than as an inset. A part of the Kansas Territory appears as Kanzas with plenty of Indian tribes named. Condition: There are edge tears and light damp stains in the blank margins. (A)

C. St. Louis, by Samuel Augustus Mitchell Jr., dated 1867 (11.1 x 14.0"). This striking plan of St. Louis depicts the city's wards and streets in good detail. The Mississippi River is visible on the east, and the Pacific Railroad enters the city from the west. Condition: There are a couple unobtrusive spots and small chips and toning in the blank margins. (A)
