This is a large-scale map (4" to 1000') showing Alexandria, Georgetown and Washington. Details are shown along the banks. The route of the canal is sketched from the Potomac Aqueduct (site of the Key Bridge) south to Alexandria. Locates the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal, the Cannon Foundry, U.S. Arsenal, the Columbia Turnpike and Alexandria and Washington Turnpike, and more. Lithograph by W.J. Stone, Washington, D.C.

Issued folding with a few faint spots of foxing and faint toning along the left and top edges of the sheet. Trimmed to the neatline at left, with a small chip and tear entering the map border.
