These two plates are from Hitchcock's classic treatise on the Jurassic-age dinosaur tracks found in the central lowland of Connecticut and Massachusetts entitled Ichnology of New England:

A. Ichnogeological Map of the Connecticut Valley, hand color (10.8 x 35.7"). Map covers the region from Bernardston and Northfield counties in Massachusetts south to New Haven along the Connecticut River. Depicts sedimentary rocks and lava flows along with the locations of tracks and fish fossils. A profile view of the "Springfield Section" is shown along the left side of the sheet. Condition: Light offsetting and toning.

B. The Moody Foot Mark Quarry, South Hadley, black & white (7.3 x 9.4"). This plate served as the frontispiece to Hitchcock's work. It shows a couple in a horse drawn carriage passing a series of tracks that were the first discovered in the region 50 years earlier. Condition: Minor text offsetting from an opposing page and a few tiny spots of foxing mostly in the blank margins.

References: Marcou & Marcou #210.
