"Globi Coelestis in Tabulas Planas Redacti Pars V...", Doppelmayr/Homann

Fine celestial chart centered on the equator above the winter solstice in a gnomic projection detailing the celestial sky between 45° North and 45° South declination. The paths of several comets are shown, as observed by Tycho Brahe, Johannes Hevelius, John Flamsteed, and Johannes Kepler, the latter of which was later named Halley's Comet. This highly decorative star chart beautifully depicts the constellations of Saggitarius, Capricorn, Scorpio, Hercules and many more. Panels of Latin text at sides identify the stars within 20 constellations seen in this portion of the sky. Johann Gabriel Doppelmayr was a professor of mathematics at the Aegidien Gymnasium in Nuremberg. He collaborated with Homann on most of Homann's celestial maps.
